The Story of Springly
A long time ago, right here on the island of Tenerife, a native tribe of people called the “Guanches” lived below mighty Mount Teide. Tall and strong, the Guanches lived in complete harmony with nature and worshipped the Dragon Tree (Drago) as a kind, generous deity with special and unique healing powers. One day, the whole tribe came together in the ancient laurel forest, to celebrate the incredible power and beauty of Mother Nature. They gathered in a beautiful spot close to the Great Tree, the oldest and best loved Dragon Tree on the island, and spent the night singing, laughing and celebrating. As the sun came up the next morning, they left the forest and started to return, tired and happy, to their homes. Suddenly, a light breeze blew through the forest, and, very soon afterwards, a small Dragon Tree sprung out from the ground. The other trees in the forest woke up to discover the newest addition and decided to call him Springly, as he had appeared on the very first day of Spring.
